The Beatles v. Apple Computer...

Round 3 begins in a court in London this Wednesday, when Apple Corps, the Beatles' business entity, and Apple Computer square off for a judicial determination as to whether Apple Computer has breached a settlement agreement reached at the conclusion of their second lawsuit (which resulted in Apple Computer paying 26M to Apple Corp. - extra credit if you know how much Apple Computer paid in the first lawsuit). The prior settlement precludes Apple Computer from distributing music on media, and the case will turn on whether the terms of the agreement cover compressed music files transmitted over the internet - or whether such files constitute "data transmission" only, as it is expected Apple Computer will contend.

(answer to the extra credit question: $80,000.00)
