JPL/NASA have a Deep Impact on the 4th!

The Jet Propulsion Laboratory at Cal Tech, sponsored by NASA and working with numerous other contributors, had an incendiary 4th of July when the Deep Impact probe struck comet Tempel 1 at 1:52 a.m. -- the probe was travelling at 23,000 mph at the moment of impact, which produced a brilliant flash of light.
