Microsoft bites Gator, uh, I mean Claria...

Long rumored, now apparently confirmed, Microsoft is in acquisition talks with Claria nee Gator. Price is said to be in the 500M range, but don't place your bets yet -- there is much debate in Redmond as to whether this is a Google catcher or dumpster diver. Would being the proud owner of one of the creators of spyware/adware be...a good thing?
