Noise cancellation for restaurants

This article and a similar Gizmodo piece describes how the folks at Meyer Sound in Berkeley have created a nifty system that can control the noise level at a restaurant. While it is not cheap, it would seem to be a must have for a lot of restaurants where chief among patrons complaints is terrible acoustics making it difficult to converse. The modern trend towards high, unfinished ceilings, exposed concrete surfaces and the general industrial chic look creates lots of reflective surfaces which exacerbate unwanted reverberation.
